A reporter since the 1950s, Siamak Pourzand was also an avid film lover. He organised cine clubs in which he showed European and American films. Siamak was married to Mehrangiz Kar, a prominent women’s rights lawyer.
The 1979 revolution transformed Siamak’s life for the worse. He lost his job, he was blacklisted and was imprisoned several times for his past activities.
"They interrogated me from midnight until the next morning. Sometimes, up to twelve , thirteen hours. I fell ill during the interrogations. I would throw up and many times, I would just lie down on the interrogation room floor and pass out."
Siamak's life ended in a dramatic statement against repression and the cruelty of denied freedom.
